Photos of the QE2 Visit to the River Tyne in September 2007.These photos were taken in September 2007 when the QE2 made it's first ever visit to the River Tyne. A previous visit failed due to bad weather. Thousands of people lined the banks of the River Tyne in poor weather to watch the cruise liner enter the River.
The ship made three attempts to enter the River, but turned away each time before finally entering at the fourth attempt. Unfortunately many people who braved the heavy rain had left by then. We have split our photos of the QE2, the waiting flotilla of small craft and a separating DFDS ferry into separate pages. Click on any photo or the link below it to view more photos. The photos may take a while to load depending on your connection speed. QE2 Approaching the River Tyne - first attempt.
